Thanks to your support, we can continue to work to ensure that all people, and especially women and girls, have real freedom of choice and can live their lives freely, with dignity and security - free from the constraints of gender stereotypes and prejudices. You will help us continue to advocate for reproductive justice, respect for human rights, elimination and prevention of gender-based violence, and the promotion of gender equality in practice.

Choice is an NGO that has been fighting the constant attacks on reproductive and sexual rights for more than 20 years and we want to continue our work, not only to maintain the status quo, but more importantly to improve the status quo. At the same time, we are now in our second year of running a counselling line to support access to safe abortion. With your support, we will therefore advocate for the removal of discriminatory barriers, such as fees, mandatory waiting periods, and the ability to refuse health care, that women and other vulnerable people in particular face when accessing abortion, contraception, or sex and relationship education. Because choice is not meant to be an unaffordable luxury, it is meant to be a real option for each and every one of us.

We are convinced that political processes can be changed and this has become the starting point of our work and civic engagement. We respond to policy decisions that have negative impacts on the lives of women or other disadvantaged groups. We point out the insensitivity of public policies, criticize the lack of fulfillment of human rights and especially reproductive rights in our country, and make proposals for positive change. We comment on legislative and non-legislative materials, negotiate with politicians and policy makers, organize mass comments, monitor the situation of women's human rights and inform the public and the international community. We also organize gender education for adults who spread the ideas of equality and non-violence in their daily work and life.

In 2021, we completed first-of-its-kind research on access to and women's experiences of access to abortion services, and our future work will build on these findings as well. We work with domestic and international organisations and the media. In recent years, as part of the feminist initiative We Will Not Be Silent! we have also co-organised public protests.

In Slovakia, there has been a long-term systematic weakening of NGOs advocating for the protection of reproductive rights and gender equality. In this situation, we cannot rely on the support of state institutions and we need your support more than ever and we would be very grateful if you would join our work with financial support. Choice, like other organisations, has long faced a politically hostile environment, precisely because of its advocacy work on sexual and reproductive rights and gender equality.
